    Golden Tracks. October 2014

    Building on our body of work in the global sports arena, we are proud to announce that Kino has been working with European Athletics on a number of landmark projects. Most recently, we branded the inaugural European Athletics Golden Tracks awards, taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Saturday 11 October. Watch this space for other European Athletics projects including the Green Inspiration sustainability initiative and the Young Leaders project – a platform to inspire active young people.

    A new direction. September 2014

    Kino have recently been working with the Association of Investment Companies on developing a new communications suite. For this series of guides and factsheets we introduced a new look and feel around the concept of a circle (representing closed end funds). All communications feature circular objects, a bold use of colour and a new icon suite to create and deliver clear and concise messaging to advisers and investors.

    Drawing attention. August 2014

    When Aberdeen Asset Management said they wanted to update their highly popular Ten Golden Rules of Equity Investing, we were delighted to have the chance to work again with illustrator John Devolle. The book we created is another way we’ve been able to help Aberdeen stand out in a crowded field – communicating their passion for clear thinking and straight talking in uncertain investment markets.

    How do you capture the challenge of building a secure financial future? We chose the mountains of Wales for Aberdeen Asset Management’s new suite of investment trust brochures. Extending the press campaign that we produced for Aberdeen in 2013, we worked with photographer Julian Love to capture various outdoor experts in their field.

    Property stacks up. May 2014

    With over £2.6 billion in assets under management, the SWIP Property Trust is the largest open-ended property fund of its kind in the UK. To convey this size and strength, we got out our building blocks and created the ‘Big property ideas’ campaign. Across print and digital, multiple building block configurations enabled us to convey the flexibility and extensive opportunities that the SWIP fund can offer to institutional and wholesale investors.

    The Design Museum has the UK’s only collection devoted exclusively to contemporary design and architecture. This exhibition revealed intriguing insights found in these exceptional, as well as everyday, items.

    We were very proud that the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic spectator guides that we designed were included in the ‘National Identity’ story, which looked at the objects that defined a nation. Proving that functional really can be beautiful.

    Spring in New York City. March 2014

    Having created the original visual identity for the Queen Elizabeth II September 11th Garden in 2012, we were honoured this year to be asked once again to create branding for the charity’s annual gala dinner. The Queen Elizabeth II September 11th Garden in Lower Manhattan commemorates the 67 British and Commonwealth citizens who lost their lives in the tragic attacks of September 11 2001. The prestigious gala event helps raise funds with the aim of creating a conservancy for the care of the garden in perpetuity.

    Simply does it. December 2013

    For the past three years Aberdeen Asset Management have partnered with Jazz FM to create a unique jazz CD. This year ‘A Simple Discovery’ showcases tracks selected and performed by Grammy-winning jazz composer and pianist Ramsey Lewis. We loved the challenge of creating a design that could marry Aberdeen’s branding with a cool jazz vibe. And Mr Lewis pronounced himself very happy with the end result.

    The Digital Impact Awards took place last night and we were delighted that our work for Aberdeen Asset Management was ‘Highly commended’ for Best Use of Digital in a Change or Re-brand Situation.

    The Games in Design. October 2013

    We are very proud of the nine years of work we created for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Now, the Design Council has documented this legacy in a dedicated website charting the contribution of all the design companies involved. From the built environment to product design, from graphics to digital animation, it’s a fantastic record of the talent and innovation that helped bring the most exciting Games in history to life.
